Kiiro Hana
Note by the artist: "Japan is a long, narrow, green country with a varied topography and many wonderful and safe places to hike. I love walking in its steep mountains and along its rocky coasts. And although Japan is often reckoned to be noisy and congested, I also enjoy strolling through its towns and villages and seeing the local shops and houses, temples and shrines, and parks and gardens.
'Kiiro Hana' is part of my 'Hana' (flowers) series and is largely self-explanatory. It depicts one of the flowers I have seen on my walks and is a cheerful companion to a foreigner who sometimes misses the seasons and colors of rural North Carolina."
