An Off-Color Remark On Shikoku
Note by the artist: "Several years ago, I traveled to the island of Shikoku to see the famous '88 temples'. Upon visiting my second or third temple in one day, I committed a faux pas by making an impatient and inappropriate remark which, unfortunately, did not escape the notice of some of the elderly pilgrims around me.
In this playful piece, my off-color remark is depicted by a sudden bright blue leaf set against an otherwise monochromatic background of red. The embarrassing implications of my rudeness echo off in the distant sea."
