Memory Of Miyajima III
Note by the artist: "The enormous tide of the Showa Period (1926 - 1988) recedes with a deafening roar: economic miracles and fascist atrocities, shiny cars and tarnished shrines, guilt, responsibility, peace, predation, sacrifice and opportunism. Who are the silent witnesses standing behind to ponder this debris left strewn on their strand? The bright promise of the Heisei Period stretches over them, yet they remain wavering in the present gray light of ambivalence -- unwilling to acknowledge the past, and thus, unable to join the future."
